umi Brighton hosts Unite Brighton exhibition
Umi Brighton is proud to be hosting a fundraising exhibition of exquisite art brought to you by artists of Brighton & Hove, coming together to help build a better future for Haiti.
The aftermath of the earthquake in Haiti had devastating consequences only adding to the already pressurised economy and infrastructure. Amongst many of the tragedies is that of the children who have lost their parents in the quake. The Future of Haiti (www.thefutureofhaiti.org) is an orphanage established by volunteers after the earthquake. With an estimation of approximately 70,000 children with no home or no parents, The Future of Haiti is caring for these orphans providing shelter, clothing, food, education etc but also comprehensive medical care. ‘Unite Brighton’ will bring together local schools, artists and businesses to raise money toward The Future of Haiti cause.
From June 5th – June 30th local Brighton artists, Mandeep Birdy, Angela Huang, Felix Kunze, Steve Yeats and others will exhibit their work at the kindly sponsored ground floor of the Umi Hotel, 64 King’s Road, Brighton; on 12th from 2pm -10pm there will be an open view for all and also on 26th June at 3pm when the Mayor of Brighton and Hove will be announcing the total monies raised at our grand finale.
During June a 50-canvas mosaic painted by local school children will be sponsored by friends and family, the child with the most sponsorship will receive a special commendation from the Mayor! Special guest speaker, Andy Kemp, a trained disaster relief Volunteer Minister who went to Haiti will share stories and show an audio visual presentation of the work being done at the finale event. To end off there’ll be live music and time to talk with the artists and find out how you can help Haiti yourself.
The GIANT ‘Unite Brighton’ piggybank will be on show at reception so all visitors and guests can donate as they want, along with our ‘I Helped Haiti’ t-shirts which will be for sale, all profits going to the orphanage.
50% of all sales of artwork throughout June will go to the orphanage.
Please help us to help Haiti. Thank you in advance for your support
