Brighton based Novelist Peter James Launches New Novel

Crime writer Peter James used a personalised police car to launch his new novel.

The Brighton-based author works with Sussex Police to make his stories about the city’s underworld as accurate as possible.

Yesterday, the 61-year-old got behind the wheel of a police car emblazoned with the slogan “No 1.

For Crime Fiction” and an image of the front cover of his new book Dead Like You.

Award-winning James, who has based his recent books on fictional Brighton Detective Superintendent Roy Grace, then went to the Palace Pier to give a talk about the new novel published last month.

Dead Like You tells the tale of “Shoe Man” an attacker who brutally assaults women before taking their shoes as trophies.

To save the life of a sixth victim Grace must piece together evidence from the past crimes and track the killer down.
