Brighton Information

Brighton is one of the UK’s best loved seaside resorts. With its sister town Hove, Brighton was confer city status in 2000 as part of the millennium celebrations and is now one of the largest conurbations in the South. Situated in the county of East Sussex in a prominent position on England’s south coast, Brighton now attracts over 8 million visitors each year.

Brighton grew in popularity in the 18th Century as a health resort, influenced by the patronage of the Prince Regent who spent much of his leisure time in Brighton building his Indian-style Royal Pavilion in the resort. Later, with the arrival of the railway in 1841, Brighton became a major seaside town and resort for holiday makers and day-trippers coming from London and surrounding areas.

Naturally, hotels sprang up to accommodate this newly emerging tourist industry and the Brighton Hotels industry has gone from strength to strength ever since. Nowadays, Brighton not only services the local tourist industry, but also the business community who attend the many conferences and expos that are hosted there year round.

Umi Hotel Brighton follows in this long tradition of Brighton Hotels, offering quality service at budget rates.
